זִיבֹּורָא m. (זבר; cmp. h. דְּבוֹרָה) bee, wasp. Targ. Y. Lev. XI, 20.—Gitt. 70ᵃ האי מאן דבלע זי׳ וכ׳ he who swallowed a wasp cannot live.—Midr. Till. to Ps. I, end אמרין לז׳ וכ׳ (not אומרין) people say to the wasp, we want neither thy sting nor thy honey. Ab. Zar. 28ᵇ bot. וקרירי לז׳ and cold water is good for the sting of a wasp.
