IN A NUTSHELL
In the last parasha, we read of the first seven plagues. In Parashat Bo, the eighth plague of locusts and the ninth plague of darkness are described. Pharaoh still refuses to free the Israelite slaves, so God tells Moshe that the tenth plague will bring death to all the firstborn Egyptian sons. Each Israelite family must paint lamb’s blood on their doorpost, in order to protect their firstborn.
After the death of the Egyptian firstborns, Pharaoh finally lets the Israelites go. In fact, he demands that they leave! Finally, the people have been set free and are ready to journey to the Promised Land. Then the Torah describes the very first Pesaḥ celebration, and Moshe tells the people how to celebrate Pesaḥ in the future also.
